Residential Care

The NEST (Neighbors Experiencing Success Together) addresses the immediate and ongoing needs of homeless families by helping move toward residential stability and self-sufficiency. In Shelter, Family Service Coordinators work to end homelessness for families with children by providing housing and supportive services to foster independence. Families Moving Forward partners with community agencies to provide supportive services such as mental health and substance abuse counseling/treatment are provided. Heads of household work to attain personal and professional goals related to the following:

  • Increasing income by obtaining full time employment
  • Developing financial literacy
  • Transitioning into permanent affordable housing

Each family in the NEST program has a private suite and attends weekly case management support and evening enrichment activities. Additionally, we offer programming specifically for the children in Families Moving Forward’s NEST program. Click here to learn more about our youth enrichment efforts

After Care Support

Branching Out (Building Relationships to Anchor our Transition) is the targeted case management after care program. This program allows guests to receive supportive services for up to 12 month after successfully exiting the emergency shelter into their own home. The aftercare program aims to identify barriers the family may experience and establish goals and a course of action to achieve these goals. We believe guests have a better chance at success if they have a strong support system in place with professional staff.  The aftercare specialist will work directly with the family as a whole within the community to establish family centered goals and front load services to surround the family with support and create a safety net to increase the family’s success in their own home.
